Lewis's father was an African Haitian was born in Ohio but the date is in doubt. She may have been born on July 14th of July 4th in 1843 or 45. Lewis lived with her mother in her earlier life and her mum's people the Mississauga band of Ojibway (Chippewa Indians).  She was known as a wildfire, her brother was known as sunrise. Today I found an interesting artist her name is Debora Remington I hadn't noticed her before. Born in Hassonfield New Jersey 1930 The year my mum was born, Deborah was drawn to art at a very early age. At the Philadelphia Museum School of industrial arts is where Deborah attended to start her career, as a teenager. Deborah received a BFF in 1955 from San Francisco Art Institute where she studied painting with Clyfford Still.  She was one of six painters and poets, and the only woman, who in 1954 founded the now legendary Six Gallery in San Francisco, where Allen Ginsberg first read his poem, ”Howl” in public on October 7, 1955.  A descendant of the Western artist Frederic Remington, she embraced illusionistic painting, albeit with her own distinctive version of abstraction.   She was one of six painters and poets, and the only woman, who in 1954 founded the now legendary Six Gallery in San Francisco, where Allen Ginsberg first read his poem, ”Howl” in public on O

The first woman artist was Artemisia Gentileschi who was born on the 8th July 1593. Artemisia was classed as the greatest female Painter of the Baroque period. Artemisia lost her mother when she was 12 years old and another tragedy hit her 5 years later was she was raped by a colleague of her father, He was  Agostino Tassi who refused to marry her , her father decided to bring a legal case and take him to court. It took several months to finalise it . Tassi was ordered to leave rome, but the order was never enforced. Artemisia married a painter from Florence his name was Pietro Antonio di Vincenzo Stiattesi. I have been very busy with my photography and so have not been blogging. Today we are talking about Maggi Hambling apparently a controversial artist, that divides opinions, ignores critics, work very hard, and swears, who doesn't today.   Born 23 October 1945, Sudbury Suffolk.  She had two siblings, a sister, Ann, who was 11 years older, and a brother, Roger, nine years older.  Her brother had wanted a brother but ignored the fact that his younger sibling is female. He taught her carpentry, and how to wring a chicken's neck, wonderful.  Hambling had a relationship with her mother who taught ballroom dancing and took Hambling along to be her partner.   From her father that she inherited the painting and artistic skills. She was not as close to her father as she was to her mother but when her father retired at the age of 60, Hambling gave him some oil paints and discovered that he had a knack for painting. Hambling first studied art under  Yvonne Drewry  at the  Amberfie

Hi to all,  Today day I am featuring my information on a female artist, born in 1915 a town called Cochiti Pueblo New Mexico. The artist is Helen Cordero and was born at a time when the rich pottery tradition was declining.  In the late 1950s, Helen and her cousin, an accomplished potter began their journey making pottery a nice change to from their bead and leather work. Helen never liked her bowls she was making so her cousin said why not try making figurines and so a never-ending story began. So began countless birds and animals and people came to life.  A traditional form was a female holding a child, she was known as the singing mother. When Helen started the female form, she was repeatedly seeing her grandfather Santiago Quintana, who constantly had his grandchildren on his knee telling stories. So her first form turned male with countless children all over him and he was called the storyteller. Almost immediately, the Story Teller brought Cordero public attention. Helen
